Creating the Right Environment for Your Piano

It is recommended that pianos be kept in rooms with:
Steady room temperature
Stable humidity levels
In Colorado, the air can become quite dry during the winter months. Using a humidifier during the winter can help maintain a healthier environment for the piano and reduce stress on it.
When to Tune
a New or Recently Moved Piano
When a piano is moved to a new home, the instrument needs time to adjust to its new environment. It is generally recommended to allow the piano to settle for about four to six weeks before tuning.
This adjustment period allows the piano's strings and wooden structure to stabilize under the new temperature and humidity conditions.
A very new piano should be tuned 3-4 times in the first year, 2-3 times for the next few years.. When the pitch settles after that, tuning can be done about 1-2 times a year.

The cost of piano tuning typically ranges from $180 to $300 per piano, depending on how far out of tune the piano is and its condition.

Sunshine Piano Studio reserves the right to decline service on a piano that poses a health risk to the technician. If a tuning cannot be completed in such cases, a $60 travel and inspection fee will be required.
